This painting was started and completed in the Victoria Studio. It has been successfully juried into one International Juried Exhibition:

Oct. 2013 - Spirituality - International Juried Exhibition, Linus Gallery, Los Angeles (Pasedena & Long Beach), California, USA - Group Exhibition (Oct/2013).

1 PROJECT - 3DMODELPLAY-SUITRIDE
Location - Projects/Project-3DModelPlay-SuitRide Last Worked on -
I started a Project Folder for this in Project-3DModelPlay (LambWheel).
I made a quick sketch earlier on, that might be the basis for this project. I was thinking of a rider on a horse that had been sectioned (see Marion Peck and her snake).
suit
1. I'm going to launch Poser 10 and install my regular Figure.
  suit
2. I'll HIDE the James Figure so only the Suit is visible.
  suit
3. I'll put a Pose on James (Poses/EquestrianPoses)
  suit
4. I now want to install the Figure on a Horse, or other animal that work well with the Figure.
5. I'll try the Carousel Horse.
  suit
This might be good, but not for what I have in mind.
6. I'm going to install the Millenium Dog from DAZ. I move the Figure on to the Dog's back.
  suit
7. I HID the Head and Neck of the Dog and installed the Meat Piece.
  suit
8. I played with a variety of Dog Textures. Some of them are very nice.
  suit
  Okay. Looking interesting.
AND A LITTLE LATER IN THE DAY

2 PROJECT - 3DMODELPLAY-SUITRIDE
Location - Projects/Project-3DModelPlay-SuitRide Last Worked on -
I started a Project Folder for this in Project-3DModelPlay (LambWheel).
9. I'm going to continue working where I left off.
I'll install some Wheels (I'll use the Button Wheel for this).
  suit
10. I'll add a Floor and try some different lighting.
  suit
11. A Mexican Floor might be less distracting.
  suit
This is coming along. I'll pick it up later.

1 PAINTING - 1505-SUITRIDE
Location - Projects/Project-3DModelPlay-SuitRide Last Worked on - September 14, 2013 (as Project)
This was a Project I started as Project - 3DModelPlay-SuitRide, but I think I should move it over to a Painting.
suit
This has had 2 iterations as a Project Folder, so I'm starting partway through.
12. There was some very strange Lighting/Rendering issues with the file that opened.
  suit
It Rendered okay, but didn't manifest in an unrendered state.
13. I changed the position of the wheels a bit and added one Spotlight.
14. I rendered it and tried out one of the Public Domain landscapes I acquired yesterday.
  suit
I like this. It has some worthwhile components. Maybe a balloon or flag coming from the Head?
But, university administration calls out in its aggressive voice.

2 PAINTING - 1505-SUITRIDE
Location - Projects/Project-3DModelPlay-SuitRide Last Worked on - September 18, 2013
I've brought this Painting to an interesting place. I've inserted a PD Victorian background.
suit
Several things are not working properly here:
- The Meat Texture is not mapping properly (an issue with Poser 10)
- The wheels need to be fixed (an axle)
- The Pose of the Figure is not quite right
There may be some other things that would enhance the production:
- Maybe a balloon or flag coming from the Head?
15. I'm going to launch Poser 10 and open the existing file (suit01).
16. I'll save this as "suit02" and start some changes.
17. I mapped "cylinder00.jpg" to the Meat Section.
Then saved as "suit03" for the next change. I'm going to look at Poses (Equestrian).
I played with the Pose a bit, setting the Figure back some.
18. I want to construct two axles connecting the wheels together. I inserted a Primitive Cylinder, sized and adjusted it to fit the space.
  add
19. Now, I'm looking for the "connection." The item which will (I'm not sure I know the vocabulary here). The item which will make the viewer have to "reread" the image, in order to try and make sense of it. The space that is set up for this is the left side of the image.

Paraprosdokians - Last night, I was watching performances by Steven Wright on YouTube. He has a very unique way of constructing his humor. When I researched this, I found that one of the devices/techniques he uses is called "Paraprosdokia."

A paraprosdokian is a figure of speech in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected in a way that causes the reader or listener to reframe or reinterpret the first part. It is frequently used for humorous or dramatic effect, sometimes producing an anticlimax. For this reason, it is extremely popular among comedians and satirists. Some paraprosdokians not only change the meaning of an early phrase, but they also play on the double meaning of a particular word, creating a form of syllepsis.

The key feature is that the final words make the listener reinterpret the first part of the sentence. Surprising, unexpected.

Some good examples of Paraprosdokia:
- "I like going to the park and watching the children run around because they don't know I'm using blanks." —Emo Philips
- Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

- Mitch Hedberg employed paraprosdokians on a regular basis. Los Enchiladas - Mitch Hedberg Movie

- War doesn't determine who is right only who is left.
- Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.
- I wondered why the baseball was getting bigger. Then it hit me.
- Some people hear voices. Some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever.
- The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas!
- I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.
- Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read.

So, what I am after is a visual paraprosdokian. How do I create this? I'm not seeing many folks talking about it online, so I don't know if it is a concept that is thought about.

"Kahlo incorporated both Christian and Jewish themes as well as objects from Mexican mythology, rendering Surrealist imaginations in a way that Andre Breton once described as "a ribbon around a bomb." (Website)

How many surrealists does it take to change a light bulb? Two. One to hold the giraffe, and one to put the clocks in the bathtub.

Okay. This was interesting, but it's not bringing me closer to finishing this painting.
20. I installed my favorite Blimp object.
  add
21. I played with it for a while, sizing and moving it around the space.
  blimp
22. I took it into Photoshop, added a background and tried some manipulations.
  add
  add
This is not working out. This is not the right object for this composition.
23. Once again, I'm having severe difficulty in bringing this to closure. I can't position the Blimp in a way that seems to work well. Maybe I should change the object itself. I wouldn't mind a balloon.
I don't have any decent balloons, so I need to look online for one.
24. I headed online, looking for a suitable (and inexpensive) model to purchase. Finally, I found one at DAZ.
  DAZ
  Midway Fun - $10 - Balloons - Figures, Pose/MidwayFun
25. I purchased and installed this Balloon in Poser 10 Runtime. Now, to see if it has any dynamic power inside the composition. I went through a variety of manipulations, looking for the right place to set the balloon.
  add
26. I think things are looking good. I want to bring this to closure.
27. 10:54 am - I started a Rendering. Gadzooks. What a strange feeling.
28. The Rendering is finished and saved in the Project folder as 01.png. My next step in finishing this work is to process and polish it in Photoshop.
29. I cut the balloon out so I could have more control over its location and placement. I spent some time just moving it around until I felt it occupied the right space.
  add
30. I don't think there is a lot of further work to do. I'll add the Black Overlay and start Erasing feature sections of the main Figures and Objects.
  add
31. I'm calling this complete.
  1505
Now, I'll spend some time thinking up a title.
