LESSON 3- FISH EXPERIMENT - STAGE 2

STAGE 2 - THE FISH VIDEO

Instructions - The Fish Video
1. You will be experiencing a FISH EXPERIMENT to learn about observation, experimentation, and prediction. You will also see how experimentation can help develop useful theories. The FISH EXPERIMENT was a special experiment conducted aboard the Space Shuttle to observe how certain fish can adapt to microgravity.
2. The Fish Experiment was conducted aboard the Space Shuttle. Scientists had noted that some fish don’t have an inner ear. This experiment was conducted in order to find out how fish react to microgravity and also how fish orient themselves in space. By observing the fish and their reactions to lights, certain observations can be made. These observations can lead to new ideas which help humans in their space adventures. In this activity, you will conduct some experiments in an "interactive" program to learn more about adaptation to microgravity.
After observing the video, discuss the following questions with your fellow team members:
a. What is the experiment about?
b. At the start of the movie, note the fish in the tank and the particular way they are swimming around. Why are they swimming in this unique way?
c. Describe differences you see in the 2 types of fish tanks shown in the video. Are the fish acting differently in these 2 tanks?
3. Proceed by clicking on the STAGE 3.
