TECHNOLOGY CURRICULUM

This project was designed and written by Don Bergland and Dale McIntosh for Royal Roads University. In April 1996, the Centre for Curriculum and Professional Development in Victoria, asked a team of experts (the Curriculum Committee) to construct and submit a report on a proposed curricular framework for the MA in Leadership and Training, based on the input provided by the Advisory Committee for the degree program. The team from Royal Roads visited the Multimedia Arts Centre at the University of Victoria and participated in a studio workshop session given by Don. Influenced by his innovative ideas about studio development and software instruction, the team recommended that Don and Dale develop an Instructional Technology Option for their Curriculum Report. The report outlined a framework for the technology component and recommended a series of courses covering a modular format for the residency periods. These included 7 Introductory Workshops, LT510 (Technology and Change), LT 550 (Instructional Technology and Distance Learning, LT 551 (Desktop Publication, Presentation, and Integration), LT 552 (Visual and Audio Media), LT 553 (Multimedia Use and Production), LT 554 (Networks and Telecommunications), and LT 555 (Internet process and Protocols. Based on the success of the report, Don and Dale were commissioned to produce the content and all instructional resources for LT 510 (Technology and Change).
