LEARNING - DIGITAL IMAGE

THE DIGITAL IMAGE

This instructional resource was written by Don Bergland and was designed to provide a distance education format for in-service art teachers in university graduate programs. The resource provides instruction in visual processing, image creation, digital photography, and image development for website application using Adobe Photoshop. It outlines a structure through the software and provides sets of exposures to its use in practical studio situations employing image development expectations. Participants in the program are put through individual and team exercises utilizing image discovery, analysis, deconstruction, processing. and construction techniques. The program attempts to help the art teacher who is making a transition to digital media find ways to bring the traditional studio experience in alignment with digital experience. The program was first field tested with graduate students at the University of Victoria.
