| In
2000, Don was working as a consultant for a highly-successful
internet and multimedia training facility in Vancouver. One
of his projects as Director of Media for the school was to produce
a series of promotional videos for use in a range of countries.
The challenge in the project was that it would include six languages
for international distribution. The language range included
English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, and Korean.
Don wrote the scripts, produced the audio, directed the video
team, and assembled all components for final production. The
English version was first produced. Don brought in translators
to translate the scripts into the designated languages and narrate
new voicetracks. The interesting issue in this project was that
the original English voicetrack was 9 minutes. Translated version
were either longer or shorter, e.g., Spanish was 11 minutes.
Using an innovative technique of marking audio waveforms, he
then rebuilt the existing soundtracks and video concepts to
fit the new voicetracks. The end series of promotional videotapes
were highly successful in the promotional campaign engaged in
by the company. |
