| This project
included the publication of 14 comic panels and 9 creative writing
stories over the period of two years and was another example
of context performance within the artist’s immediate environment.
Don had been teaching his students about opportunities for the
submission of creative products. As part of his approach, he
began to actualize his theoretical ideas concerning the routines
involved in establishing a creative voice. The project featured
the publication of a series of visually-based comic panels and
creative writing stories. He announced to the community that
his creative voice would start appearing in the university publication,
Martlet, in the form of eccentric comics. Later in the year,
he announced that his voice would start appearing as outré
stories in the radio publication, Offbeat Magazine. Both art
forms participated in the same style of construction. Towards
the end of the first stage of this project, Don expanded the
context and began publishing some of the comic panels in campus
publications in Alberta and Saskatchewan. |
