This project was an intense journey into the depths of product
negotiation and promotion with Microsoft. It involved the creation
of an interactive online radio simulation that was capable of
offering a variety of comedy-focused stations and concepts to
the user. Users would access this radio in website form and
then rotate it to present one of five different faces. Each
face had its own unique look and offered its own specific content.
The content ranged from talk show formats to fortune-telling.
It was humorous and biting in its comedic presentation. In 1996,
a Vancouver-based media production company, Motion Works, had
been working on this concept for a new form of website-based
comedy. Their destination for the project was the new Internet
Entertainment structure announced by Microsoft at that time.
Don Bergland was invited into the project in 1997 as a creative
design consultant. His innovative work with co-creator Colin
Yardley, would launch the project towards success and ultimate
approval from the Microsoft organization. He created a promotional
package which had Microsoft at the negotiation table within
a week. |
