| Always
attempting to integrate the varied aspects of his creative life,
Don designed another shell installation structure to host a
computer-based production called Melody Parade. This production
employed a user-based computer interface which allowed optional
selections from a menu of animated satirical media including,
video, audio, and image presentation. It used many of the concepts
and content he had developed in his performance work and re-structured
them in a digital and interactive format. Presented in an exhibition
at the McPherson Gallery in Victoria in January, 1996, the production
featured a series of QuickTime movies, still image presentations,
text-based media, and dimensional soundtracks. Users could approach
the shell, put on headphones, and then interactively engage
with the media through mouse and keyboard action. The installation
received a variety of favorable reviews from gallery goers. |
