Sensational Italy: An interactive Tour of Wine, Food, and Culture
was a large-scale commercial multimedia production project sponsored
by Frontier Technologies in Ottawa, Ontario. The product was
an interactive project which dealt with the wine, food, and
culture of Italy. It offered over 170 Italian recipes in a searchable,
scaleable, and printable format. It featured videos of famous
master chefs preparing meals and a detailed presentation of
Italian wines. The project was marketed internationally and
was showcased on bookstore shelves for several years. The project
was assigned on the basis of the national publicity Don Bergland
and Dale McIntosh were receiving for the Multimedia Arts Centre
they were constructing at the University of Victoria (see Learning
Project #x). Don and Dale undertook the project as a field test
of the Multimedia Arts Centre. They wanted to see if the studio,
its software and its procedures were capable of developing a
high-end multimedia project designed for commercial distribution
and use. The project was designed and produced entirely in the
production unit of the Multimedia Arts Centre at the University
of Victoria. It became a showcase project for students who wished
to observe media design and production in action. |
