| This
project involved the design of specialized graphics for a website
being constructed by the International Language School of Canada
(ILSC). This project included a large number of design variables
and highly focused criteria for the image deliverables. The
special aesthetic considerations were so artistically specialized,
the site designers approached Don Bergland for consultation
solutions. The image criteria stated that the art had to be
computer-generated, illustrative and figural, and derivative
of the styles of Matisse and Huichol Mexican Art. Through many
draft revisions and much composition and experimentation, Don
finally arrived at a set of solutions that satisfied ILSC owners.
The final images utilized bright colors, dynamic composition
frameworks, Matisse-like figural symbols, and the centralized
organization of Mexican art. 21 images were processed for use
on the new company website and dealt with the main themes of
the school website: Our Programs, About Vancouver, Accommodation,
Our School, Administration, Accent Reduction, Evening English,
Cooperative Education, Executive English, Wilderness English,
English in Action, English Snowboard/Ski, Register, Contact
Us, Accreditation, Communications, Academic Preparation, Business
English, Test Preparation, English Through the Arts, and Computer
Education. Each image was processed in a variety of formats
including full feature version, accent version, and thumbnail.
